This Weekend!  Arsenic & Old Lace to be Performed On Stage

SCS’s Drama Department will be presenting Arsenic & Old Lace as our fall drama on November 9th – 12th on the Nehemiah Stage.  Show times and prices will be posted soon.  Arsenic And Old Lace is a classic comedy set in Brooklyn, New York in the late 1930’s. We meet the very Victorian, but most charming and innocent elderly Abby and Martha Brewster who run a boarding house for socially and religiously “acceptable” roomers. We are amused along the way by the antics of their brother, Teddy Brewster who thinks he is Teddy Roosevelt digging the Panama Canal in the basement of their home. Their handsome nephew, Mortimer Brewster who is a dramatic critic for a New York Newspaper and his fiancé, Elaine Harper add spice to the mix. Oh, and then there are the activities of the “other” nephew, Jonathan Brewster and his sidekick, Dr. Einstein – these require no further description or amplification here……….not to mention the additional supporting cast comprising several local law officers, the local preacher, a new and potential “boarder”, Mr. Gibbs and the superintendent of Happy Dale sanitarium, Mr. Witherspoon!
