Upper School

Salisbury Christian Upper School students are challenged to strive for success in a variety of venues. It is our belief that each student has unique God-given talents and abilities and it is our responsibility to give our students the opportunity to develop these gifts. Our program is truly comprehensive with opportunities for Spiritual Growth, Academic Excellence, Leadership Training, and Social Development. We strive to meet the needs of the individual throughout their transitional middle school years into their high school years. To most fully accomplish this goal we clearly separate the Upper School into two parts: The Middle School (grades 6-8) and the High School (grades 9-12).

MIDDLE SCHOOL ACADEMICS

Grades 6-8
The Middle School is viewed as a "bridge" between childhood and the teenage years. During these early adolescent years, our qualified and committed teachers guide students through this changing period in life with challenging academic instruction combined with the development of critical thinking skills.

Core subjects include language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and Bible. A unique addition to our curriculum is our Enrichment rotation. During each year of Middle School, our students receive concentrated instruction in writing, vocabulary building, reading and study skills, and computer studies. We also offer instruction in art, music, band, and physical education.

Middle Schools students establish rewarding friendships so important to self-esteem during several activities throughout the school year. Making new friends is easy during the Spiritual Emphasis Days held at the beginning of the school year. There are monthly socials and game nights throughout the year.

Middle School students experience chapel services weekly, where they lead and participate in worship, as well as hear some of the many of the area's pastors and youth pastors.

HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMICS

Grades 9-12
The extensive high school curriculum is organized around the core subjects of English, mathematics, science, social studies, technology skills, fine arts, foreign languages, Bible, and physical education. Advanced Placement and Honors classes are available in many subject areas, and we offer both health and driver education (through an independent driving school). Students can choose to participate in a Dual Enrollment Program with WorWic Community College . Weekly chapel services, focus groups, and a Spiritual Emphasis Days are an essential part of student life on the SCS campus.

Salisbury Christian School also gives students the opportunity to participate in many extracurricular pursuits, including our Student Government Association, pep band and choir, studio art, and two yearly drama performances (A fall drama and a spring musical). There are over 20 clubs, leadership organizations, and service organizations affiliated with the high school.
