Guidance  

The SCS Guidance Department provides services to students and is a resource to parents and school staff at all levels (pre-kindergarten – 12th grade). Target areas include personal/social, educational, and career guidance, exploration, and decision-making. Counseling involves student’s individual and group concerns. As student advocates, the counselors’ primary responsibility is to help students make the best of their educational and social opportunities at SCS. Guidance activities include classroom lessons, parent nights, standardized test coordination, monitoring of grades, scheduling, and graduation requirements. The counselors strive to present all information from a Christian perspective. You are invited to call or visit the Guidance department at anytime.


The Elementary Guidance Program at Salisbury Christian School provides services to students and is a resource to parents and school staff. Target areas include personal and social growth as well as educational planning. The counselor’s primary responsibility is to help elementary students make the best of their educational and social opportunities at SCS. Guidance activities include individual and group counseling, classroom guidance lessons, a 5th grade shadow day and parent night, standardized test coordination, monitoring of grades, and the implementation of community programs (Kids on the Block anti-bullying program and Take a video home character education program). The counselor strives to present all information from a Christian perspective. You are invited to call or visit the Guidance office at anytime.

Guidance lessons are taught once a month in grades Kindergarten – 5th grade and focus on the following topics:

Kindergarten – Getting along with others, how to be a friend, manners, safety
1st grade – Feelings
2nd grade – Friendship skills, character education
3rd grade – Homework and study skills
4th grade – Career exploration and conflict resolution
5th grade – Character education
