School Profile  

The School

SCS is a thoroughly Christian interdenominational school from pre-kindergarten (3 year old) through grade 12.  Bible is integrated into the curriculum and course requirements for graduation.  SCS is approved by the Maryland State Department of Education (Grades K-12) and is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). SCS also operates a fully licensed daycare facility for pre-school age children and before and after school care for pre-school through eighth grade.  SCS seeks students who desire a Christian education, have satisfactory scholastic and behavioral records from previous schools and perform satisfactorily on an entrance test.

The Faculty and Support Staff

The teaching staff consists of 45 teachers and 14 teaching assistants.  The remaining 29 staff are in administrative and support roles.

Academic Profile

SCS students (grades 1-11) score above the National average on the Stanford Achievement Test each year.  All students in high school take the PSAT and ASVAB.  On the SAT and ACT, our seniors have scored from the average range (1000) to as high as 1560.  All Juniors are required to take a college and career research course. 

We have also had two National Merit commended students, four AP Scholar Awardees and one Distinguished Scholar semi-finalist.

Graduation Requirements

Students must earn twenty-five credits, complete ninety hours of community/missionary service, pass a senior essay or writing project and read and report on one book per term of enrollment from our recommended reading list.

Credit Requirements

Bible (3 ), English (4), Social Studies (3), Science (3), Math (3), Physical Education (1), Health (1/2 ), Fine Arts (1), College/Career Research (1/2), Computer Technology (2) and Electives (4).

A college preparatory curriculum requires 2-3 credits in a Foreign Language and Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry.  The 2 Year College/Career school curriculum is our basic curriculum for graduation.

AP Courses

AP English, AP US History, AP European History, AP Biology AP Computer and AP Calculus are currently offered. 

Enrichment Courses & Activities

Advanced classroom services are offered for PK-Grade 2; Enrichment pull-out programs are offered for Grades 3-5; English Enrichment is given to all students in Grade 6 & 7; Extra-curricular enrichment is offered for Grades 6-12 and Honors and AP courses are offered for all high school students.

From 1999 - 2005, we have had 124 graduates.

  • 2% entered a Christian Outreach program
